The Kingdom of Judah split from the Kingdom of Israel after Solomon because of Transgression. Judah is the tribe from which King David and Jesus Christ are descended. Judah was the son highly favored by Jacob, and to whom the most glory was given in Jacob’s final prophecy over his children. Of Judah, which means praise, he said,
“Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee.
9 Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
10 The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. 11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.
Genesis 49: 8-
It was Isaiah the prophet that announced many generations later the messiah as an offshoot of Judah. Jesus is called the Lion of Judah, as fulfilment of ancient prophecy. The rulership of Jacob (Israel) is given to the descendants of Judah, as God promised King David to always have a descendent from his bloodline always sit on the throne. Jesus therefore had to come as a descendant of David and through the bloodline of Judah to fulfil his own prophecy. All those in Christ Jesus are therefore also part of Judah.
The scepter shall never depart from Jesus Christ, who is the Lamb and the Lion. All those in Christ Jesus are therefore also part of Judah. Judah is the chosen son.
